Bright Ideas Event Coordinators Company HistoryIn the fall of 1988, Bright Ideas Event Coordinators was born. Sharon Bonner and her partner recognized a need in the marketplace for someone to plan events for corporations. Their most frequently requested corporate events at that time were Golf Tournaments, Boat Cruises and Company Picnics. In addition, they managed to coordinate a few weddings and private parties. They also tried their hand at public events such as the Downtown Economic Development Society (D.E.E.D.S.) Trade Show, which offered young entrepreneurs in the east side an opportunity to promote their business. They chartered boats and sold tickets to the public for such cruise events as Oktoberfest, Fireworks and the Carol Ships. They even tried their hand at selling pizza during the First Night New Years' Celebration. After 1 ½ years, Sharon's partner decided to give up the unpredictable life of an entrepreneur to return to a secure situation where she had regular paycheques, yearly holidays, medical benefits and weekends off. Being an entrepreneur can be challenging at times. Sharon Bonner comes from an entrepreneurial family, so for her she felt right at home with Bright Ideas. She decided that she wanted to continue planning events and analyzed the past 16 months of business to get a better sense of what direction to take. In the end, it was corporate events that stood out as the most stable event market. She had a vision and she began implementing it. In 1991 she incorporated Bright Ideas Event Coordinators Ltd. and concentrated solely on corporate events. For the next 3 years, times were tough as she turned down countless weddings, birthday parties, trade shows and private anniversary projects; always focusing on her chosen target market - corporate events. She truly believed that to be an expert in the field of corporate events, she would have to coordinate hundreds of them to be well proficient and experienced. And that's exactly what she did... Fast forward to 2002. Sharon realized that corporate events were lacking a vital component; something for the guests to do at the event. Events were successfully planned and executed, but with less people drinking and driving, guests would leave the event early. She needed to create a reason for people to stay at the event. Enter Bright Ideas PartyHats. Bright Ideas PartyHats is an innovative, creative event activity that involves all your guests simultaneously. It is a unique icebreaker and event souvenir, all in one! Initially corporations were incorporating the activity into the entertainment portion of the program, but lately there has been a tremendous interest in utilizing Bright Ideas PartyHats as a creative team builder. Today Bright Ideas Event Coordinators Ltd. is one of the leading event producers in Vancouver. They coordinate over 100 events per year, all of them in the corporate sector.
